Milestone Anniversary Celebrated at Forgotten Queens Landmark
Whitestone, NY, September 6, 2016 – Due Ponti Restaurant reached its own milestone at a historic Queens’s location celebrated for over 100 years. On Wednesday, September 14th, 2016 the Due Ponti 7 year Anniversary Celebration is an open invitation to enjoy an hour of complementary wine and passed hor’s d’oeurvres from 6PM to 7PM followed by a $24.95 three course prix fixe menu offered alongside the nightly dinner menu. In addition, Due Ponti will showcase the launch of their made-to-order bakery and highlight the location as space for corporate and social events that include weddings, showers, and holiday parties.
Due Ponti Restaurant, formerly the historically well-documented Beechhurst Yacht Club, survived decades of new home and warehouse construction that dwarfed the curbside view of the building and extensive docks. Current owner Joe Facchin acquired and salvaged the property in 2005 to open his first restaurant despite neighborhood and councilman resistance due to rumors that speculated Mr. Facchin planned to open a disruptive beachfront disco. Even the New York Times recognized the debacle as a Whitestone neighborhood catastrophe.
After a five year delay, Due Ponti opened to become a waterfront mainstay and dinning destination known for al fresco dinning with views of its iconic namesake NYC bridges or wintertime fireplace perfect for romantic dinners. Owners Joe and Rosemary Facchin admit “Due Ponti had up’s and downs,” yet during the past year “Due Ponti saw an influx of people from all over so we're putting a great deal of effort to keep them coming back, so why not celebrate?”
The milestone commemorates the buildings history as a landmark of Whitestone and Queens that has transformed to become home to Due Ponti Restaurant. Vintage pictures of the Beechhurst Yacht Club and the area will be on display during the event. The prix fixe menu features a choice of three; Appetizers: Shrimp Fra Diavolo, Mozzarella and Tomato, Sicilian Meatballs. Entrées: Linguini Red or White Clam Sauce, Breast of Chicken with Mushrooms and Peppers, Veal Parmesan, Spaghetti and Tomato Sauce Dessert: Crème Brulee, Tiramisu and Chocolate Mousse Cake.
